I've had to complete my mandatory workplacement for entertainment this week. It's at a radio station up in Bateau Bay on the Central Coast and i had to work in a group with some other students from my TAFE to produce a one hour recorded program.

Unfortunately it's a bit boring as there are times when i don't really have much to do and i think that it's a waste of time. Though once i think about it abit, i've done a hell of a lot more here than i ever did on the movie set i worked at once (i made bacon and egg sandwiches and was a tree once). At the radio i actually get to help record some stings (the little short pieces where someone tells you what radio you're listening to eg. 'you're watching sea fm' and various other projects. So actually it's been quite interesting.

There are two people who work at the station and advise us about how to go about making the programs, so basically the radio station is run by us (it's a not for profit youth radio station). There's Margaret who signs off all our paper work and organaises everything. She is also the founding member of the station. Her little terrier Chops came in once (he's supposed to be the studio dog because she doesn't like cats) and he's a fat little thing who will eat anything that falls on the ground. There's also Kate who is fresh out of Uni and hoping to get some experience to increase her chances of employment. She works in the studio and records our pieces, such as news and whatnot. She's also a Goth with a nice tie. (i like ties).

There's one more day to go and i'm relieved to be able to wake up at a reasonable time and get my work done for school. Tomorrow we will be compiling our program and having a sausage sizzle to celebrate our efforts. (note to self: remember to bring cans of soft drink). There will also be a one hour Live broadcast to the surrounding area and we've been given a chance to have a go. I don't really like my voice, but i wouldn't mind just putting one song on and introducing it.
Probably a Nightwish song like Nemo... yes Nemo (especially since you can't get it on itunes... or at least i couldn't when i downloaded them long ago. Luckily i was able to borrow CD's off Tahlia).
Anyway, it's almost over and as cheesy as it sounds, there will be a little twinge of regret that i'd be leaving. Nevertheless, i have a whole lot of school work to catch up on so that little twinge will be gone in a flash as soon as i get to school.
